Glendon Brooks

Glendon Patrick Brooks, 64 of Pictou Landing First Nation, passed away February 11, 2015 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after losing bis battle with cancer.
Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mary (MacDonald) Brooks.
Glendon was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour. A loving father, grandfather and a true friend, who was passionate about his culture and the environment. He loved his sports especially the Ottawa Senators. He never asked for much, loved visitors, attending community gatherings, always finding a way to attend. He took good care of his mom, the late Mary E. Brooks.
He worked as a roofer in Boston, Mass. for some 25 years and also as a security guard for 10 years during his younger years.
He loved hunting and fishing, playing the guitar, computers, gambling, and always enjoyed learning new things.
He is survived by sons Danny, Donald, a daughter Charlotte Brooks-Gould, all of Pictou Landing First Nation; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Frances Monteith, Halifax; Mary Brooks and Evelyn “Penny” Meuse, both of Shubenacadie; his 2 god-children Andrea Paul, Pictou Landing First Nation; and Garnet Brooks, Halifax.
He was predeceased by a brother Dan Martin, mother Beatrice Paul and father Peter Julien.
His remains will rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation after 2 p.m. Saturday from where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial will take place at Indian Island at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Glendon may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
