PRIESTVILLE – Malcolm Wilson Pellerine, 72, Priestville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 13, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Peter Paul and Mary Helen (Fraser) Pellerine.
Prior to retirement in 1997, he had been employed with, Michelin Tire, Service Z, Granton for 25 years, serving as supervisor for the later part of his career. He was a member and past-president of the BPOE, No. 226, New Glasgow. Malcolm was the originator of the “Taste of Home” campaign to support Canadian troops in Afghanistan, which was supported by his brother Elks. He was the founding president of the Pictou County Chapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation. Malcolm enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Larry’s River, especially the times shared with his family. He was a skilled card player and enjoyed playing crib and auction. Malcolm’s greatest joy was his family, who dearly loved him.
Surviving are son, Malcolm Jr. (Ann) Pellerine, Priestville; daughter, Cindy (Sherman) Knight, MacLellan’s Brook; grandchildren, Brandon Pellerine, Lacey Pellerine, Taliah Knight, Maggie Wilson and Zachary (Jenny) Wilson; great-granddaughters, Riel and Gemma; brothers, Gerard (Lee) Pellerine and Jerome (Joan) Pellerine, Fraser’s Mountain; sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” (Gordon) Stewart, Halifax; Carmel (Lewis) Bradley, Prince Edward Island; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Jean (MacDonald) Pellerine; brother, Jackie Pellerine; granddaughter, Laurel Lea Knight.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in the chapel with Maureen O’Hagan officiating. Spring interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan’s Brook.
