JOHNSTONE, KATHERINE EDITH
The passing of Katherine Edith (Jones) Johnstone of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ervine Johnstone, occurred on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 2, 1931 in Newcastle, NB she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Galley) Jones.
Katherine was a great person of faith; a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Katherine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her children, Heather Holyoke (Andrew), Joyce Saunders (Earl), Brent Johnstone (Kristina), Gordon Johnstone (Tammy) and Anne Miller (Mike); grandchildren, Sara Holyoke (Kristian Dewar), Lisa Holyoke-Walsh (Michael Walsh), Jeff Johnstone (Aileen), Holly Johnstone (Dave Hunt), Erik and Maron Johnstone, Mark Saunders (Anna), Jonathan Saunders (Mary), David Miller (Holly); great-grandchildren, Elijah and Elizabeth Johnstone, Declan Hunt, Charlotte and Luke Saunders, Evie Walsh, Emma and Livvy Dewar; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Katherine was predeceased by her grandson, James Miller; sisters, Louise, Irene and Mary Margaret; brothers, George and Joseph “Dodie”.
A Funeral Service for private family and close friends will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating. Honourary Pallbearers are Earl Saunders, Andrew Holyoke, Mike Walsh, Eric Gillis, Kristian Dewar and Mike Miller. Interment will take place in St. Mark’s United Church Cemetery, Miramichi, NB at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
