Janice McDevitt

McDEVITT, JANICE "JAN" ELIZABETH
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved daughter/sister, Janice “Jan” Elizabeth McDevitt. Born April 15, 1951, she was the much loved daughter of Charles Raymond McDevitt (Arleigh) and Margaret (McDevitt) Boyle (Ralph).
Jan was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Girls High School and obtained her Bachelors Degree at the University of New Brunswick. Employed with the Province of New Brunswick-Post Secondary Education, Labour and Training, Jan was recently honoured with her 25 years of service award. Janice was a life long learner and her professionalism, and dedication was most recently recognized when she was awarded her Career Practitioner’s Designation. Counselling was Jan’s passion and she enjoyed working with her clients helping them overcome many obstacles and reach their goals. She was so proud of all her clients and their accomplishments.
Jan was an incredible artist and saw beauty in everything around her.
Family was the most important thing in Jan’s life. She was always there for all of us, providing guidance, wisdom, encouragement, love and laughter. Jan always put her family first…we will miss her dearly. Jan loved her precious feline companion, Saucy and he will be lost without her.
Besides her mother and father, Jan leaves behind to grieve, sisters: Janie Lewis (Stephen), Cathie Insley (Gavin), Wendy Stephen (Gary) and brothers: Peter McDevitt (Leanne) and Darren McDevitt (Pam), brother-in-law Rick Smith (Susan), God-Child Anthony Stephen and many, much-loved wonderful nieces and nephews.
Jan was predeceased by her sister, Susan McDevitt-Smith. Now we are blessed to have two angels watching over us.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). At Jan’s request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to a celebration of her life with a Mass of Christian Burial, on Thursday, February 19 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, followed by a reception at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home on Waterloo Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jan’s favourite charity, Handibear Hills Horse Sanctuary.
