It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Gertrude Gouthro at MacGillivary Guest Home, on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Ann (Fowler) Curran. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Carol (Charles) Oursien, Linda Gouthro, Debbie Gouthro, Maryann (Randy) Grant, Sherry Gouthro (Alex Beuchannan) and Heather Gouthro (Bobby MacNeil); sons, Barry, Donnie Gouthro and David Curran. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Marshall Gouthro, brothers, William, Jack and Jim, sisters, Catherine, in infancy, Marg and Hellie. She is also predeceased by her great-granddaughter Samantha.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church, Sydney, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception to be held at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., following the mass.
