It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Feb. 13 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Noel and Helen (Googoo) Francis. Shirley studied early child development at the Truro Teachers College. She received her BBOM diploma from Patrick’s Business College and worked for Eskasoni Homecare for numerous years; taking care of her precious mother. She enjoyed the company of her sister Annie Jane, where they would find themselves at the table, playing cards and sharing stories. Shirley loved music, often times you would find her singing and dancing, she loved the simple classic tracks of country music.
Shirley is survived by her children, Audrey (Brad), Carole Anne (Alex), Hillary (Tobias), Jasmin (Elliot), Lance Paul of Truro; grandchildren, LenScott, Megan, Jocelyn, Aurianne, Russell, Kennady, Nolan, Denzel, Anderson, Merrick, Amerah and Maxine; great-grandchildren, Roslyn, Lyric, Lyden, Kaydence, Baby Len, Lytnen, Leehen, Keyrah, Aleigh;, sister, Annie Jane (Camillus); brothers, Edmund and Charles, Eskasoni; godson, Rodney Alex and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her “hero” and love, Max Sylliboy Sr., her parents, Noel and Helen Francis, sisters, Mary Theresa Denny, Elizabeth Poulette, Genevieve Bernard and brother Frankie Francis.
Visitation will begin after 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at her home 87 Lakeview Dr., Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 201,5 at Holy Family Parish Church, Eskasoni, with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating; meal and Salite to follow.
