NEW GLASGOW - Martha Lee Burchell, age 99, died on Feb. 17, 2015 at the Aberdeen Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Jessie (MacFarlane) Fraser.
She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the City of Sydney Hospital and was a life member of the Sydney City Hospital Alumnae.
She was a former member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Aberdeen Hospital; a life member of the Board of Management of the New Glasgow Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses; a life member of the United Church Women of Trinity United Church and a member of Unit “B”; a member of the Gyrette Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Robert) MacQueen, Lower Sackville; son, William (Annette) Burchell, Fall River; three grandchildren: Kerry (Rodney) Spike, Fall River; Jessica Burchell, Bedford; Jamie MacQueen, Houston, Texas; one sister, Nita (Harry) O’Neill, Ottawa; five nieces and three nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Burchell; two brothers, W.G.A. Fraser, Montreal and J. Elmer “Barney” Fraser, New Glasgow; sister, Annabel Benvie, Glen Haven Manor.
A special thank you from the family is extended to Karen Foley, Marlee’s friend and supporter for many years.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
