McKENNA, ELIZABETH
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” (Taylor) McKenna which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015. Born 1944, in Greenock, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late William and Christine (Simpson) Taylor.
Betty moved to Canada in 1973. In her earlier years, Betty worked at the old General Hospital as a Ward Attendant. She worked as a Telecommunications Supervisor at the Saint John Regional Hospital for 32 years. She was a founding member and past president of the Ladies Auxillary K of C 6595. She was a long time member of the CWL. Betty enjoyed bingo, camping, travelling, knitting, and ceramics. She was a great leader and spent most of her life doing for others. She was a party planner at heart. Betty had a great love for her family and grandchildren. They were the greatest joy of her life.
Betty is survived by her husband Tommy McKenna of 52 years; daughters Christine Cockhill (Blair) of Caledonia, ON, Roselyn McKenna of Saint John, Sandra McCavour (Chris) of Saint John; sisters Cathie Adams (Joe) of Rothesay, Irene Borsato (Harry) of Ontario; grandchildren Connor, Kendra, Camryn, Meghan; step-grandchildren Adam and Kristen; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her sisters Chrissy and Sadie and brother Billy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, February 20th from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Saturday, February 21st at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
