YEAMANS, P.ENG, DONALD C.
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald C. Yeamans of Fredericton, NB, wishes to announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on February 19, 2015. He was 79 years old. He was predeceased by father Roy Yeamans and mother Martha (Langin) Yeamans; beloved wife Judith (Flewelling) Yeamans; and brother George T. Yeamans.

Born in Minto in 1935, Donald attended Minto Memorial High School and then enrolled at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB. He received a Diploma in Engineering from Mount Allison University in 1957 and went on to earn a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1964. He proceeded to embark upon a distinguished career in the field of civil engineering, working for firms such as: ADI Ltd; NB Coal Ltd; Boyd-Touchie Engineering Consultants; Public Works Canada; NB Power; and the City of Miramichi.

He specialized in municipal water/waste-water projects, but also contributed to numerous highway and bridge construction projects, marine infrastructure, mining operations and energy generation and distribution systems. He was awarded a lifetime membership by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB). His work for the City of Miramichi culminated in the creation of an innovative project in sewage treatment that was internationally recognized and made him a co-recipient of the Engineering Award of Merit by the APEGNB in 1999.

Always willing to help out and serve his community, Donald coached minor hockey; supported the Boy Scouts of Canada; was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and was a passionate advocate for wild salmon and the Miramichi Salmon Association. He was a long standing and proud member of the Thistle Fishing Club, Miramichi.

He is survived by sons, Jamie Yeamans (Carrie Culligan Yeamans) of Fredericton and Robert Yeamans (Tannys Laughren) of Sudbury, Ontario; grandchildren, Max Laughren of Alberta, Harrison Yeamans of Sudbury, Ontario, and Abigail Yeamans of Fredericton. Donald is survived by a sister, Geraldine Chase of Grand Lake; brothers, Kendall Yeamans (Barbara Prince) of Fredericton and Daniel Yeamans (Elaine) of New Castle Creek; and sisters-in-law, Isabel Yeamans of Fredericton, Janet Jay, Orilea Martell (Zale) both of Vancouver, BC, Lorna Flewelling of Fredericton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Nasonworth on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015 at 11am. Rev. Canon Bruce McKenna will officiate. Interment will occur at a later date.
