It is with sadness, that we the family, announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Margaret Rogers. Maw passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Grand Bruit, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Jane (Lillington) Ingram.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Maw was a true homemaker; she enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and spending time with her loving family. She was a very quiet and mild mannered lady who always put the needs of others before the needs of herself. She will be fondly remembered for all the loving moments spent with her children and grandchildren, her family was her life.
She will be sadly missed by her children, son Floyd (Jane), Kingston, N.S.; daughter Lydia (Mike) MacKinnon, Glace Bay; cherished grandchildren, Margaret-Jaye (Scott) Gardiner, Ontario; Russell (Jessica Ryan) Rogers, Alberta; Michelle (Michael Briggs) MacKinnon, Glace Bay; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving husband, Russell Rogers (1975), grandson Russell MacKinnon (2011), brother Edgar, sisters, Irene Ingram, Miriam Ebeltoft and Susan Rideout.
In honouring Maw’s wishes there will be no visitation.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Vernon Reid will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. All are invited to join the family at a reception in the funeral home, immediately following the service. Interment will be at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
Family flowers only.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
At this time, we would like to sincerely thank everyone at the Long-term Care Unit of the Glace Bay Hospital, for the loving care and compassion given to our Maw.
