It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Frances Beatrice Scott, 82, on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Frances was born in Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Almon and Elizabeth Skeard.
When she first moved to North Sydney she worked at Hamilton Hospital, later at General Instruments, Sydney, and finally at National Sea Products. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. Frances was an avid card player and enjoyed playing 45s at various clubs in the local area.
She is survived by her daughters, Anne (Glen) Paul, Kingston, N.S., Nancy Theriault, North Sydney, Brenda (David) Douglas, Bras d’Or; her sons, John 'Jack' Scott and Wayne (Ellen) Scott, both of North Sydney, also by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her brother Clarence (Nina) Skeard, sister Mary Lomond, both of Port Aux Basques and by many nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her husband John 'Jack' Scott, her brother Edward Skeard and sister Minnie Musseau.
Special thanks to Dr. John Kirkpatrick , the nurses and staff of Teresa Terrace at the Northside Community Guest Home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Frances and the family.
A visitation for Frances will held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Glen Kent officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home, Alzheimer Units.
