Evelyn Fox

Evelyn Fox passed away peacefully on February 3, 2015 at Prairie View Health Centre in Mankota, Saskatchewan at the age of 94. Evelyn was born in Ponteix, Sask on July 16, 1920 to Samuel & Phoebe McConville. She grew up on the family farm in the Quimper School District with her five siblings; sisters Phoebe, Maude, Alice, Hilda and brother Andrew. As a young girl, Evelyn enjoyed the family pets, and many outdoor activities especially playing ball. Evelyn and Clarence Fox were wed on May 1, 1940, residing on the Fox family homestead in the Pinto River District farming and raising cattle. Some winters in the early forties were spent away in Markham, Ontario and Northville, Alberta. She & Clarence transformed their tiny home into a loving and secure place to raise their three children through hours of hard work and dedication. She made simple but delicious food with buns and lemon pie her specialities. As well as contributing to the farm work, hours were spent sewing clothing and costumes, and knitting. Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Pinto River Stitch & Chatter Club. Evelyn and Clarence began wintering in Swift Current in the late seventies. They enjoyed ice skating, and became avid fans of the Broncos hockey team & Swift Current Indians Ball. After Clarence passed away in 1986 she continued to reside in Swift Current for many years. She was an active senior taking part in many activities and especially enjoyed bowling. She moved to Prairie View Health Centre in Mankota in 2009. Evelyn will be remembered for her quiet perseverance, strength of character and dedication to her family. Her memory will remain in the hearts of the family and friends who knew her best. Evelyn is survived by her children, Ilene (Cliff Dodds) of Aneroid, Bev (Darrel Hogg) of Regina, and Larry (Nancy Fox) of Vanguard; grandchildren Sheryn (Terence Flynn) of Beechy, Sandra (Darrell Senicar) of Glen Bain, Shelly(Jason Puckett) of Yorkton, Alan Hogg (Lee-Anne McCaw) of Regina, Patrick Fox of Calgary, and Daniel Fox of Vanguard; great Grandchildren, Kimberly (Lance Locken), Ryan Hornung, Skylar Flynn, Aaron Senicar (Jen), Mitchel Senicar (Michelle), Sawyer Senicar, Ainsly & Jack Puckett, Eryk & Fionna Hogg; and great-great grandsons, Kylan & Cameron Locken. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Florence (Toots) Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 1986, and by her four sisters & a brother. The Celebration of life of Evelyn Fox took place in Aneroid, Saskatchewan on February 14, 2015. Service was officiated by Laura Balas; pianist: Cindy Gorrill; Soloist & Pictorial Tribute: Sandra Senicar; Grandchildren & Great-grandchildren Memories; Eulogy Larry Fox & Bev Hogg; Ushers: Ken Pigott & Harold Ulm. Honorary pallbearers were all the family & friends who shared in her life. Interment took place at the Aneroid Community Cemetery followed by reception to share in a time of remembrance and fellowship at Aneroid Centennial Hall.
