SOPPITT, EUGENIE "JEANNIE" MARIE
It is with great sadness that the family of Eugenie Soppitt of Saint John, beloved wife of the late Cpt. Alwyn G.E. Soppitt announces her passing, which occurred on Friday, February 20, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 27, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Hickey) Lowe.
In her younger years, Jeannie was employed with NBTel. After becoming married, she devoted her life to taking care of her family. Jeannie always treasured the times spent with her family and friends and especially looked forward to spending time with her precious grandchildren. Together with Alwyn, she had many travelling adventures and particularly enjoyed the trips to Ireland. Jeannie held a special place in her heart for all the dogs in her life, especially Monty, Toby and Finnegan. Her south end roots were important to her and she took great pride in being a part of that community. She will be sadly missed.
Jeannie is survived by her daughter, Gillian Mowat (Don) of British Columbia; sons, Dennis and Nicholas, both of Saint John; grandchildren, Emilie and Liam; sister, Mary Tucker (Boyd) of Saint John; brother, David Lowe (Sandra) of Saint John; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline and Denise; special nephew, Jamie; as well as other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jeannie was also predeceased by nephews, Michael and Anthony Branscombe.
Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated from St. John the Baptist Church, 54 Broad Street, Saint John on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 12:00 Noon. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
