It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary 'Martha' MacMillan on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Aberdeen, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Jessie (Smith) Fraser.
Martha was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the Bethel Friendship Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Robert 'Bobby'; two sons, Rev. Ian (Jane), Lancaster, Ont. and Robert, principal of Halifax Central Jr. High, Halifax, and a granddaughter, Emily. She is also survived by sisters, Janet (David) Westcott, Myra (Allister) Gillis, Edna (Donald) Stewart; brother, Jack (Millie) Fraser and sister-in-law, Audrey Fraser.
She was predeceased by a sister, Joan in infancy and by her brother, Donald.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A celebration of Martha’s life will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Brookland Street, Sydney, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Cape Breton Hospice.
