Joseph Terry Doucette
Joseph passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the Moncton General Hospital on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the age of 83 years, husband of the late Mildred (Chaisson) Doucette and father to John (Amy), Jerry (Karen), Michele (David), Lucas (Kilby), Kenneth (Duriana), Sharon and Alan (Angela).
Joseph was the son of the late Rose (Guinard) and Joseph Doucette of Rollo Bay. He was the youngest son of his nine siblings and is survived by his elder brother, Vernon Doucette. Joseph leaves a legacy of many creative and energetic grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a child during the WWII years and keen to join the Korean War effort, at the young age of 18 years. He experienced some very difficult tours of duty in Korea. Upon return from Korea, he and Mildred reunited and married in Rollo Bay. In the 1960s they moved to Massachusetts to gain employment as Mildred worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, while Joseph worked in high-rise iron work and as a foreman on the Boston Tunnel. The family returned to the Island in 1973 and settled on a farm near Montague.
Joseph lived a life of creativity and sought solace in his later years through gardening, wildlife, poetry and painting.
