The death occurred suddenly at his home on Friday, February 20, 2015 of Charlie Hubert Sark of Lennox Island First Nation, aged 77, beloved husband of Doreen (nee Simpson).
Charlie was a respected Mi'kmag leader and former Chief of Lennox Island First Nation.
Born on November 3, 1937, son of the late John James and Elsie (Houghton) Sark. Dear father to Charlie Greg, and Sarah Sark (Will Summers). Loving grandfather to Elsie and Meg. He is also survived by his dear brother, Jack (Marilyn); sisters-in-law, Fran Sark and Jean (Edward) Lange; and brothers-in-law, Daniel Simpson and Alex (Denise) Simpson. Charlie is also survived by well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Sister Martha Sark, Sister Rebecca Sark, Joan Sark (Vince Beaudin), Mary Iris Sark; brothers, Raymond and John Reuben in infancy; and nephew, Kevin Sark.
Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with visiting hours on Wednesday, February 25, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, February 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tradional Mi'kmag Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 27, at John J. Sark Memorial School, Lennox Island First Nation at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at a later date.
