1923 - 2015
Marcel Langis, 91, passed away peacefully at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015.
Born in Campbellton on March 16th, 1923, he was the son of the late Raoul and Marie (Parent) Langis.
Marcel was dedicated to his family and a loving husband to his wife, Marie-Anne (Ouellette) and proud father to Serge (Monique), Gisèle McNeil (Dave), Ginette MacDonald (Ronald), Lise (deceased), Marcia Bears (Roy) and grand dad to 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was a man of deep religious faith. He was a past treasurer for the Christ the King parish in Moncton as well as past president of the parish Golden Age Club. Community involvement was also an important part of his life. He was a two term president of the Beausejour Curling Club, sat as chair of the now defunct Regional Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board and participated in a number of other community organizations. His life motto was “It is always much more rewarding to give to those in need than to receive”.
Marcel was an entrepreneur having owned a number of businesses in the past such as the North End Lunch, the Royal William Restaurant and the North End News Stand. He was also a long time employee of Atlantic Beverages Ltd.
He is survived by one sister, Jeanine Goguen (Adrien) and was predeceased by his brothers: Roland, Robert, Marc and André.
At his request there will be no visitations. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King church on Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at 11am, followed by a reception at the parish Golden Age Club.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jules Cormier and the caregivers at the Dr. Georges- L.-Dumont UHC for the professional care and attention given to their father.
