1970 - 2015

The family of the late Robert Patrick Michael would like to extend sincerest gratitude for the support and condolences we have received in the last two weeks. Rob’s tragic death has left a huge void in many people’s lives. The cards, emails, flowers, food, visits, memorial donations and mass cards in Rob’s memory have been overwhelming – too many people to thank individually.

The family would especially like to thank the doctors who took exceptional care of Rob – Dr. Peter Callahan, Dr. Tony Tavenor and Dr. Krista Fudge. To the ICU nurses – Lesley Keats, Ida Connors, Deanna Clarke, Lori Birmingham, Nicole Curtis and Rhonda Janes; the emergency room nurses, doctors and paramedics – you are incredible people and you went above and beyond in the care you gave Rob that day. We will be forever grateful. Special thanks also for Janet Peckford, Nancy Sweetapple and Sister Donna Kelly for being present during our short time in the hospital and to Father Terry Boland for Rob’s last rites.

I would personally like to thank Laura and Keith Fillatre for their professionalism and ability to make a daunting task bearable. Thank you to Mr. Don Butler for the fantastic piano playing. Rob always said he wanted music at the funeral home. You fulfilled his wishes. Also, thank you to Gerald, Stephen, and Justin Boutcher of Tim Hortons for supplying coffee, tea and snacks. We all know how much Rob loved his coffee.

The funeral service would not have been possible without the help of the bereavement team for their professionalism in planning – Uriel Boland, Mike Walsh, Adelaide Smith and Darryl MacGillivray. Thank you to all who participated in the funeral mass. Father Edward Terry for making the service so personal, Rev. Clayton Parsons for reading and speaking so eloquently about Rob – a true friend. To Bernadette Meiwald for reading, cousins Terrilynn, Nancy, Shelley and Nora, uncles Garland and Tom for helping during the service. Sister Kathleen Rex played at our wedding almost 17 years ago. I will be forever grateful to you for the beautiful music. Barbara Hickey, thank you for your angelic voice. Rob always enjoyed your singing and thank you to the choir members and the BIMA choir for the contribution to the service.

Thank you to the pall bearers – Gary Bennett, Paul Lockyer, Nick Hamlyn, Darren Osmond, Tom Brennan, Glen McCarthy and Terry Hume. Rob respected and trusted each of you tremendously.

Special friends – Deanne and Rick, Marylyn and Nancy for the extra things you did for us the day of the funeral – Thank you. A special thank you also, to all of our family members for your overwhelming support and for just being there for us through this difficult time.

Again, there are so many more people that we could thank. Everyone’s outpouring of love and support has been tremendous. Rob was a great husband, father, son, uncle, brother-in-law, son-in-law, friend and businessman who will be missed by so many. Help us keep his memory alive through your stories.
