Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Penny in 1991; sisters, Marjorie, Mathilda and brother, Daniel.
The family wish to thank the staff at the veteran's unit of Harbourview Nursing Home in Sydney Mines. Dad had been a resident there since March 10,2011. The staff treated dad like King George and they enjoyed teasing him as much as he teased them. They were very caring and compassionate to dad and our family. Dad appreciated the care he received and realized how lucky he was to have these services.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dad's physician, Dr. Mark Sampson and Dr. Andrew Wawer. Special thank you to Sandra and Dave Gray for visits to dad and the support during our time of need. Also a big thanks to Brian's family members for all their support.
We will remember Dad as a happy, fun loving person who had a positive outlook throughout his entire long life. Dad passed away peacefully on his wife's birthday.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
A Memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River, with Father Devereaux officiating.
Burial to take place at a later date.
