It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Leona Catherine MacLeod at the Northside General Hospital on March 1, 2015.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Phalen) Long.
Leona is survived by her son, Eric (Sharon) MacLeod and their son, Lloyd, whom Leona cherished and adored, all from Sydney Mines, by her daughter, Nancy (Steven) Devoe and their two sons, Colton and Bryson, all of Ontario. Also surviving are her sister, Eileen (David) Lyle of Bras d’Or and two brothers, Tom and Frank Long of Sydney Mines.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; her brother, Russell and two brothers in infancy.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Bill MacDonald for his care to Leona over the years.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the N.S. Kidney Foundation or your local food bank.
