OLIVER, RUTH A. (MERSEREAU)
The peaceful passing of Ruth A. (Mersereau) Oliver of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Frederick Stephen “Steve” Oliver, occurred on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born on August 25, 1930 in McAdam, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Jessie (Pheeney) Mersereau.
As a young woman, Ruth worked in nursing at the Victoria Public Hospital. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ruth was skilled at handy work and was an avid quilter.
Ruth is survived by five sons, Bruce (Lisa Pardy) of Fredericton, NB, Brian (Maria Lythgoe) of Ottawa, ON, Michael (Sheila) of Fredericton, NB, Eric (Joanne) of Toronto, ON and Ian of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Julia, Peter, Gabrielle, Jennifer, Celyn, Danielle, Connell and Stephen, and one great-grandchild, Brianna.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister Marion Sangster and brothers Oliver and Jack Mersereau.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery at a later date.
