He worked in Hamilton for several years and returned to purchase the family farm in Brooklyn in 1950. He and Marion farmed fulltime for the next 38 years in several commodities including dairy and apples. After purchasing a smaller farm they continued on a part time basis for several decades after that, where Lee was able to satisfy his love for working in the woods, tractors and trucks! He and Marion were also able to travel to the U.S. numerous times to visit family and friends, satisfying some wanderlust. Lee was an undaunted fellow, learning to fly a single engine aircraft in his seventies and embracing curling and golf until his eighties. Lee was involved in many organizations over his lifetime, serving his community in numerous capacities until his mid-eighties. He was a Brooklyn School and Church Trustee, member of the Annapolis County Federation of Agriculture and Soils and Crop Association, Beaver Fruit Co-op Director, Soldiers Memorial Hospital Board Director, Middleton Legion President, executive member and 60 year member, Middleton Baptist Church Life Deacon, long time Middleton Baptist Church choir member, Member of the Middleton Curling Club, and Eden Golf Club member. Until a year ago, Lee had attended the VON Adult Day Program in Middleton as one of the original clients, where he maintained his reputation as a man with a quick joke or comment. The family wish to extend their thanks to the staff at Annapolis Valley at Home Senior Care and VON who facilitated wonderful, quality at-home care to Lee for several years. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grand View Manor Berwick for their sensitive and excellent care in the past year. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 7 at 2:00pm at Middleton Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service.
