Manaton "Manny" Geldart

GELDART, MANATON ALBERT "MANNY"
Grand Bay-Westfield, NB - It is with profound sadness that his wife, Wanita, announces Manny’s sudden passing on Tuesday, March 3rd 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after a period of failing health, at the age of “77”. Manny was born in Saint John to Vincent and Freda Geldart (nee Coles).
Besides his wife of 46 years, he leaves a brother Don and three sisters (Joan, Barb and Beth); special sister-in-law Myrna Geldart of Toronto; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Bob and Jim, three aunts; Bebe, Bessie and Bella, two uncles; Borden and Doug all on his mom’s side. All his dad’s family have also passed away, including his special aunt “Celia” who was so generous to Manny and his brothers and sisters.
Manny drove a Taxi for years in Saint John. When he retired, he enjoyed spending a lot of quality time with Wanita’s mom Eva. In November 1997and since, his constant companion was our cat “Pebbles’, she misses him.
Though we had no biological children, all the neighborhood children grew up in our home and yard, generations of them. They all loved him, because of his quiet, gentle manner and voice. He played with them constantly. Our neighbors are not just friends; they are family and included us in all special occasions, way too many memories to put in print.
Manny was the “go to” guy when girls and the boys grew up and needed a drive somewhere. He never refused them. They loved him and he them. After being in the same house for 45 years, Manny was well known and loved by all. Wanita’s friends visiting always made him happy.
Manny was well loved by Wanita’s family and friends. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Linda Thorne. He is also survived by his brother–in-law Henry. Wanita’s many cousins, two uncles and four aunts are deeply saddened at this time. Their constant calls and prayers have been so appreciated.
Wanita wants to thank her friends Carol, Sylvie, Karen, Claudette and Bill Shuve for all their transportation since July 2014. Special thanks also to Karen and Linda Breau and my sister Linda, Claudette and Pat B. for all their running around Grand Bay helping me with my errands each week. Thanks to all the girls and guys at the Co-Op and all the gals at Guardian Drug Store for always asking how Manny and I were doing. They are also like family. To all my bowling ladies who I’ve missed since last September. To the “Wed. Liquid Sanity Trio” who Manny loved to see come and have a good laugh. I hope I have not left out anyone.
Our greatest thanks to the staff of 5A South Oncology at SJRH from Oct. 6th to Nov. 8th , 5D South staff from Nov. 25th to Jan. 14th and St. Joseph’s Cam Unit from Jan. 15th to March 3rd. My constant calls each day and night were always politely and professionally addressed. Manny was a special, kind, thoughtful, caring, loving person. Thanks to Wayne Feltmate, Manny’s angel when in oncology. Thanks again to all my friends for their love and support.
Manny is being entrusted to Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, E2M 2L3. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private ceremony will take place at a later date.
It would be appreciated that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Society, or especially St. Joseph’s Cam Unit, who are special people.
We love you and miss you Manny. Love Wanita and all The Pamdenac Crew.
