Arthur Fraser

Born: September 22nd, 1946

Passed on: March 4th, 2015

FRASER, Arthur Drummond - September 22, 1946 – March 4, 2015. On March 4th, in the home he loved and of which he was so proud, with his three girls by his side, Art left this earth at the age of 68. Art took great pleasure in the beauty around him. His hobbies definitely reflected that–hunting and fishing in Margaree; sailing on the south shore; camping and canoeing with his family at Keji; driving top down in the Miata; snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing; going for walks; and watching the sunset at Turners Brook with dear friends, a glass of wine in hand. Next to his love of our home and property in Weston, he treasured every moment spent in Margaree where his Shaw roots ran deep in the Marsh Brook, and where childhood memories of summers spent there were etched in his heart. Art’s greatest passion, of course, was his music, particularly classical music for piano–a joy that he shared with his family. Art received great pleasure from attending concerts at Acadia over the years. Art also very much delighted in sharing great food and wine with close friends and family. Forever a teacher, Art’s career was spent at Port Mouton, Central Kings, and Cambridge Elementary schools. He held dear the friendships he made with his fellow teachers over those years. He greatly missed his career and the young people he taught when he retired. Art is survived by the loves of his life–wife of 45 years Kathy (Kay Ingraham), daughters Heather (Christian Croft) and Jillian (Glenn Arseneau). Also surviving are his sister Faye Guy and brother Ervin Fraser (Heather Hayes), brothers and sisters-in-law in Margaree and Sydney, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Ervin and Bertha Fraser of Sydney, his eldest sister Marian Anderson and his youngest sister, Cynthia Creasy. A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2pm, in the Garden Room of the Irving Centre, Acadia University, where he spent so many Sunday afternoons enjoying music. Donations in his memory may be made to the Valley Cardiac Rehab Society (c/o VRH, Kentville) or the Annapolis Valley VON (New Minas). He has left a huge void in our hearts, but we have countless, wonderful memories to last our lifetimes. Smooth sailing, dear one. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
