It is with broken hearts, that we the family, announce the unexpected passing of our much loved Betty.
Betty passed away with family by her side on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Halifax Infirmary following surgery.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Louie (MacIntyre) Morrison.
Betty was a true homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and spending time with her husband, Bruce. She was truly devoted to her family and friends. She was a very caring and fun-loving lady who will be fondly remembered for all the memorable moments spent with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Betty worked for Mendleson’s Variety Mart, Glace Bay.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Bruce (formerly of Birch Grove), daughter, Carrie (Glen Morrison), Glace Bay and grandchildren, Leah (Michael Edmonds), Laura, Erin and great-granddaughter, Maria Edmonds, son, Jimmy Ward and granddaughter, Jamie Lee and her mom, Cara, Sydney.
Betty is also survived by sisters, Marie (Greg Ward) of Glace Bay, Linda (Joe Gouthro) of St. Catharines, Ont. and many nieces and nephews. Betty’s extended family includes, stepson, Doug Butts (Michelle) with their children, Madeline, Hunter, Remington, Quintin, Devon, stepdaughter, CJ with her son, Cole. Also surviving is Bruce’s mom, Phyllis, sisters, Sandra Matheson, Linda Campbell, Trudy MacKenzie, Judy Amadio and brothers, Dave, Terry, and George.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Colleen in infancy, brother, Peter Morrison, sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Jack Gouthro, Bruce’s father, George and sisters, Cathy Ann in infancy and Marge McMullin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Leo Boone is Thursday, 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the church foyer. Cremation to follow.
At this time, we would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff at the Halifax Infirmary, 5.2 and 4.1 and to Dr. Lee, Dr. Casey and Dr. Patrick for the dedication, care and compassion given during this difficult time. A special thank you to all of her friends for their thoughts and prayers.
