PICTOU – Alan Fraser Graham, age 57, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Erwin and Jennette (Fraser) Graham.
His early years were spent in Westville and Rocklin. While residing in Sunny Brae, Alan was a member of the East River Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Caledonia IOOF Lodge, Hopewell. He was a member the of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Sunny Brae. For several years, he worked in home renovations with Fred Fraser of Hopewell and recently he was employed by Pictou County Solid Waste. Alan cherished his family gatherings particularly enjoying his many nieces and nephews.
Alan is survived by his wife Marie (Margie); step-children: Rick (Lisa) Langille, Kingston, ON; Cathy (Rod) MacGregor, Halifax; Judy (Jim) Fenton, Debra (John R.) Smith, Tom Langille, all of Pictou; 10 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; special “mom” Anne Moore, Stellarton; sisters: Carol Muirhead, Green Hill; Diane Gordon, New Glasgow; Judy (Paul) Porter, Green Hill; brother, Lester (Judy), Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Florence Burke, Antigonish; brother-in-law Kenneth Burke, New Glasgow.
Alan was predeceased by his first wife Laura (Burke); brothers-in-law: Harlin Muirhead, Allan Gordon and Lawrence Burke.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. A reception will follow the funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Sunny Brae Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Alan may be made to The Lodge that Gives or to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
