Colin Russell Bell, age 89, of Kentville, Kings Co., formerly of Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on November 29, 1925, in Motherwell, Scotland, he was the son of the late James and Agnes (Russell) Bell. He served in the Air Force during the Second World War. He met his wife, Margaret (Ettinger, RN) while recovering from TB, in an Ontario Hospital. She was his nurse. They married and had five children, James Bell (Sylvia); Sheena Boyd (Grant); Jocelyn Mackin (Greg); Linda Pineo (George); Jeffrey Bell. They also had seven grandchildren, Wyatt Boyd, Gregory Mackin, Kinsey Mackin, Gillian Mackin, Jennifer Orde, Jason Pineo and Geordie Vaughan-Bell. He and his wife were foster parents to JoAnn Collins, who presently resides at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre. Dad had a great love for JoAnn. He is survived by three nieces and nephews, Mitchell Ettinger (Fran); Jennifer Ettinger (Max); and Melissa Ettinger (David). He was a long time Loans Manager at the Bank of Commerce in Windsor and along with his wife, was the proprietor of Hilltop Rest Home in Falmouth, for eleven years. His passion was golfing and he passed on his love for the game to his son, Jeffrey and grandson, Geordie. He also spent many hours enjoying his parrot, Bailey. Many thanks go out to Kings County VON Services. Without their support, living at home would have been very difficult for Dad. The many talents of the VON staff included the preparation of amazing meals, beautiful harp music and incredible support. Thank you. We would also like to thank, Nita Doherty for her patience (with the ol' Scot!) and her talents for making Dad comfortable. There will be no service at Dad's wishes. A private celebration will take place at a later date. Arrangements were under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Donations in memory of Colin may be made to Open Arms, Kentville or a charity of your choice. Dad's Scottish charm, sarcastic wit and singing will be greatly missed.
