STELLARTON – Arnold “Arnie” Fraser, 79 of Stellarton passed away March 9, 2015 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late John William and Dorothy Mae (Arnold) Fraser.
Arnold had been a life long resident of Stellarton where he was an adherent of the Christ Anglican Church. Arnold was a past employee of Sobeys from where he retired after 43 years service. He was past president of the Stellarton High School Band as well as a member of the South End Dart League. Arnold was an avid sports fan, having played baseball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at his camp at Loon Lake.
He is survived by his wife the former Alice (Rogers), Stellarton; a daughter Penny (Ed) Stewart, Stellarton; sons Arnold (Donna), Stellarton; Scott (Janice Ferguson) Stellarton; Kevin (Julie), Red Deer, Alberta; seven grandchildren: Kim, Alice, Jason, Kelly, Jenna, Olivia and Ethan, four great-grandchildren: Brody, Wyatt, Tabitha and Kevin; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother John “Jack”.
Cremation to take place. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from the Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury presiding. Burial of ashes will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Donations in memory of Arnold may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
At this time, the family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Gerry Farrell, Dr. Spencer Barclay and the nurses and staff of the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, as well as the Pictou County VON for the excellent care given to Arnold during his sickness.
