Mary Elchuk
April 27, 1931 – March 7, 2015

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elchuk on March 7, 2015, a dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary was born on April 27, 1931 and was the only daughter to Felix and Anne Podhorodecki. She grew up in the Claytonville area, and in her late teens moved to the Shipman area where she met her soul mate, William (Bill) Elchuk, her loving husband of 65 years of marriage. On May 7, 1950, Bill and Mary were married and together they embraced the country life, built a family farm in Shipman and raised 6 children; Paul (Christine) and their children, Robb (Sarah) & children Jill and Sophie, Michael (Erin) & children Brooke and Amy, Jennifer (Mike Middelkamp) & children Jacob, Emma and Abby and Andrew (Lindsey). Joan (Donald Kenney) and their children, David (Sky Perry), Carolyn (Albert Ussher) & their child Leo, Nicole and Brian. Gordon (Diane). Marilyn (Dave Bulgis) and their children, Pam (Dustin Dyke), Lance (Brittany) & their child Mackenzie and Bryce. Cindy (Dave Graham) and her children Jason and Owen and Roger. Mary worked tirelessly for her family and had a deep love for all of them, touching each of their lives with her generosity, gentleness, kindness and hard work. Mary will always be remembered for the care she showed her family, her delicious cooking and endless hours in her large garden. In December 2008, ill health forced Mary to move into Mont St. Joseph’s where she remained until her passing. Mary will be dearly missed by her husband Bill; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Edward and their respective families; as well as other numerous relatives. On behalf of the family, a special thank you is extended to those who cared for Mary at Mont St. Joseph’s. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dave Webster officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
