Sarah 'Sadie' Catherine Hines, a resident of Oceanview Manor, Eastern Passage passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
A longtime resident of Glace Bay, born on March 31, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (McNeil) Browner.
Sadie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a fervent Blue Jays fan.
Sadie is survived by her six children, Joseph (Jane), Stephen (Wendy), Margaret, James (Janice), Eric (Lisa), Leah (Jason); 15 grandchildren, Tyler (Kara Leigh), Jordan (Lindsey), Avian, Brian (Heather), Mark, Jacqueline (Mitch), Christian (Amanda), Jenna (Tim), Matthew, Colby, Christopher, Ryan, Justin, Olivia and Rachel; three great-grandchildren, Baxter, Molly and Lucy; four siblings, sisters, Camilla, Mary, Regis and brother, Connie as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband, Eric ‘Sneakers’ and siblings, Iggy, Myles, Alex and Katie.
Visitation for Sadie will be held on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Glace Bay at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Oceanview Manor Foundation, Eastern Passage.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Oceanview Manor in Eastern Passage for the exemplary care of our mother. The staff treated her like family. We had peace of mind knowing she was in good hands.
