KING
Ray King died on March 5th, 2015 after a short illness, but a long and richly lived life. Though he lost his wife of sixty years, Eve, in 2006, the family he loved remains; daughters: Susan (Bill), Linda (Alex) and Jennifer (Karl), son Stephen and grandchildren, Pam, Wendy (Don), Allison (Jason), Erin (Chris) and Jason, and great-granddaughter, Claire. His sister, Gillian (Roger), his nieces Debra (Doug), Karen (Russell) and their children; as well as Eve's sister, Daphne, all share in his loss. Born in England, Ray, Eve and Susan immigrated to Canada in 1950, eventually making their home in Moose Jaw in 1957. He worked for SaskTel from 1951 until his retirement in 1983. It was after this that he discovered a passion for model railroading, investing his creativity and attention to detail in his own layouts, as well as his work with the Moose Jaw Thunder Creek Model Railroad Club. Above all else, Ray believed in our responsibility to each other, to ensure that all were taken care of. He demonstrated this with his tireless efforts on behalf of his union, CWC Local 3 and his 28 years as treasurer of the Moose Jaw Food Bank, converting their paper to digital format at the age of 80. Ray was a man of strong beliefs that were always clearly reasoned and firmly rooted in his kindness and generosity, and he was never shy to share his opinions. His home rang with laughter and there was always a seat at his table for a guest. He knew that while we all walked different paths, no one deserved anything less than to be treated well and respectfully. At Ray's request, there will be no funeral or service. In his memory, we would ask that you pass on a kindness. Make a donation. Take a friend to lunch. Share what you have with someone who has a little less. He knows you'll make a good decision.
"And the only measure of your words and your deeds
will be the love you leave behind when you're gone."
He will be missed.
In living memory of Ray, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
