Passed peacefully away on March 5, 2015 Joan Victoria Arklie (nee Adams) in her 89th year. Loved dearly by her family and her many friends and particularly by her husband of 30 years, James R. Arklie deceased in 1987. The only daughter of James and Mary Adams she is predeceased by her brothers and their spouses: James, Charles and wife Veronica, Fred and his first wife Ella and second wife, Mary and the Honourable William G Adams and sister-in-law, Marjorie Adams. She is also predeceased by her husband's sister, Dr. Daphne Parsons, his brother, David Arklie and her great niece, Lori Bursey. Leaving to mourn her youngest brother Eric Adams with whom she was best friends, sister-in-law Eve Adams, brother-in- law Dr. David Parson's and sister-in-law Leonora Arklie. Having no children of her own, she had a particularly close relationship with her nieces and nephews who are left with many happy memories. Fred and Ella's children: Charles (Isabel), John (Linda), Joan (Dave) Best, Mr. Justice James (Susan) and Mary Chancey and their 11 children, their spouses and 21 grand children; Charles and Veronica's children: Dr. Harry (Judy), Veronica (Dr. Stephen) Walker and Andrew (Liz) and their 7 children, their spouses and 2 grandchildren; the children of Dr. David and Dr. Daphne Parsons: Keith (Debbie), Dr. Ean (Jane), and Andrew (Catherine) and their 3 children; and David and Leonora Arklie's son, Graeme (Deidre) and their son. Aunt Joan dearly loved her two club groups, devoted friends for over 50 years, some of whom will be greeting her with great joy today and others who remain here to celebrate her memory and the many good times they had together. We extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of both Kenny's Pond Retirement Community and latterly Chancellor Park for their dedicated and loving care of Aunt Joan. Thank you to Vera Schofield who brought her Church to her when she could no longer get there herself. And thank you to all of you who helped make hers the wonderful life she was always so grateful for. Cremation has taken place. The family will welcome visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7-9. Funeral service will take place at St. Thomas' Church on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 at 2 p.m., inurnment following at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road. No flowers by request.
