May 9, 1938 - March 13, 2015 Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre on Friday, March 13, 2015, Vera Butland (Hanlon), of O'Donnell's, St. Mary's Bay, age 76. Predeceased by her parents Anslem & Mary Hanlon, 6 sisters and 9 brothers. Leaving to mourn Dermot, her loving husband of 56 years; children Marilyn (Paul Lannon), Laura (Ed Sexton), Chris (Connie Parrott), Eddy (Janice), Neil (Tonya), Claudette (John Tobin), Dean, and Carmella (Dave Prince); her grandchildren Curtis, Jonathan and April, Trevor, Kyra and Laura-Lee, Kristen, Allison, Neil, Leah and Devon, Glenn and Chris, Caleigh and Jack; and her great grandchildren Alexa and Madison, Lily and Kali, Morgan and Abigail. Also mourning her loss are her siblings Myra Hickey (Michael), Kathleen Comerford, Mildred Tobin (Gordon), Carol-Ann Hull (Ross), Ann Marie Murphy (Eugene), Gerry Hanlon (Linda) and Eddie Hanlon; brothers and sisters- in-law Sylvia Hanlon, Mary Hanlon, Pam Hanlon, June Hanlon, Mildred Butland, Michael and Patricia Butland, Al Daley, and very many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Vera was a teacher until the end, a trouter, a card player, a camper, a business woman and a confidante to many. She lifted her family and friends with her wisdom and her faith, her stories and her laughter. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Enright Memorial Church, St. Joseph's, St. Mary's Bay. Visitation on Sunday March 15 from 4 - 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:30 am from St. Joseph's Church. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, O'Donnell's. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Good Shepherd Parish P.O.
