George Abi Sumarah age 81 of Stellarton, passed away March 11, 2015 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Lebanon on August 15, 1933, he was a son of the late Woody and Mary (Samia) Sumarah.
George had been a resident of Pictou County since 1955. George was known for travelling throughout the province and selling clothing and supplies from his store Sumarah’s Clothing in Stellarton, which he owned and operated for many years.
He is survived by his wife Nasli Sumarah, Stellarton; brothers Said Abi Samra, Detroit, Michigan, USA; Nassif Abi Samra, Windsor, Ontario; sister Nasli Abi Samra, Lebanon.
He was predeceased by his first wife Rose, brothers Tanus Abi Samra and John Abi Samra.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will be in Christ Anglican Cemetery, Stellarton at a later date. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society.
