GOUGH, SHIRLEY A.
Shirley Gough died peacefully at Thomas Hall, Fredericton, NB, on Friday, March 13th, 2015 at the age of 86.
Predeceased by her husband, William (Bill); parents, Stuart and Ethel (Currie) Wilcox; sister, Geraldine Maddeaux; brother, Charles.
A registered nurse, Shirley trained in Campbellton and Montreal. Married over 60 years to a career soldier, she lived in Barrie, ON, Soest, Germany and Montreal before returning home to Fredericton. She worked at the Catherine Booth Hospital in Montreal, Oromocto Public Hospital, the Stan Cassidy Centre in Forest Hill and White Rapids Manor in Fredericton Junction.
Shirley enjoyed piano, knitting, bowling, golf, boating, waterskiing, and fishing. In her retirement years she spent many vacations camping with her family across Canada and the USA. She loved her rose garden and the camp at Yoho Lake.
She is survived by her children, Kathy MacDonald (Kenneth) and William C. (Carol); grandchildren, Susan Donovan (Shaun), Andrew MacDonald (Katie) Claire Evans (Brian) and Jessica MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, William, Alexander and Issac.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Shannex for the care they gave to Shirley.
There will be no visitation by request of the family. A memorial service will be held at at a later date. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery Field of Honor in the spring.
For those who wish, memorial tributes can be made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
