POWELL, ISABEL IRENE (HOWELL)
Isabel Irene (Howell) Powell of Moncton, NB passed away on March 13, 2015 at The Moncton Hospital at the age of 86. Born in Petitcodiac on September 25, 1928, she was the daughter of Grace (McKnight) (Center Napan) and Isaac Howell (Bass River). She met her husband Albert Powell of Painsec, NB while volunteering with the Salvation Army.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1974, by sisters Marie (George) Stockford, Bessie (Ken) Moore, Marion (Ken) Murray, Dorothy (Emery) Gaudet; brothers Kenneth (Marg) Howell and Robert (Mary) Howell; step-son Evan Powell and step-daughters Vera, Nellie and Myrtle. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She leaves behind many nieces and nephews including a special niece Sharon Connors and a special friend Julie Thompson who called her “grandmother”.
She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, Cats and everything about Cats and loved her church family. She was a caregiver for her family including caring for her husband and her mother at home until their passing and for her sister Bessie every day for 9 years at Spencer’s Nursing Home. She was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Moncton and was a Deaconess and Sabbath School Secretary Assistant, right up until the time of her death.
Funeral arrangements in care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995). Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm, followed immediately by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm from The Seventh Day Adventist Church,161 Salisbury Rd. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Petitcodiac at a later date.
