It is with sadness we, the family, announce the passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather, William Stuart Desin, 68, of New Waterford on March 13, 2015, at New Waterford Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
Born April 2, 1946 in Westfield, New York and formerly of Florida and Pennsylvania, he moved to New Waterford in 2002 where he then called home.
Bill was a gentle, caring man who loved to spend time with friends he met on and offline. He was a former proud member of the USA Air Force and later worked with his father in a family plumbing business.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfreda (Stuart) and William Desin, in-laws James and Flo McPhee and sister Donna Grace.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Jo-Ann Jennex-Desin; brothers, Lloyd, Pennsylvania, Robert (Angie), James, Stephen (Kelli) McPhee, all of New Waterford; his children, whom he adored, Julie Stoddard of South Carolina and Krista (Peter) Smits of New Waterford, Brian Desin of Kentucky, Hadley S., Richard (Melanie) and Hadley J. Jennex all of New Waterford; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bill spent many of his last days watching Toopy & Binoo with his loving sidekick, granddaughter and light of his life Kearah Smits. He will be missed by all.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 18 from 12 -2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
