Luciak, Donald Stanley

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Don, at the age of 67, beloved husband of Irene for over 41 years. Loving father of Jason (Sheri) Luciak, Candace Luciak (Corey Macleod) and Kimberly Luciak. Cherished Grandpa of Brianna, Taylor, Adam and Aysia. Don will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Bill and Ed (Marlene) and sisters Rose Stoppler and Helen (Willard Richards), sisters-in-law Doreen Luciak, Helen Luciak, Marjorie (Roger Bertrand) and Jean (Art Straub) and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. Don is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Joe and John, sister Mary (Bill Senicar), sister-in-law Eleanor Luciak and brother-in-law Kon Stoppler. Don was born to William and Annie Luciak in Gravelbourg, SK, on June 23, 1947. He was raised on the family farm Southwest of Hodgeville and attended school in Vanguard. Soon after graduating, he began to work at the Vanguard Co-op where he managed bulk petroleum. He met Irene in 1972, and the couple were married at St. Boswells Trinity Lutheran Church in 1973. They settled in Vanguard, SK, and raised their 3 children there. After 38 years of dedicated service with Co-op, Don retired in 2005. They moved to Moose Jaw in the fall of that year. Don enjoyed his work and built many lifelong friendships. He loved caring for his home and garden, taking pride in growing the largest tomatoes. He decorated his garage with numerous antiques and collectibles of every kind, appreciating the care and detail that was used in their making. He also spent countless hours working with wood. Above all, Don loved his family dearly and cherished every moment he could spend with them, especially if it involved a good joke or mischievous prank. The Funeral Service will be held at the Moose Jaw Alliance Church, 14 Neslia Pl, Moose Jaw, SK (corner of 9th Ave. NW and Thatcher Dr.), on Thursday, March 19th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Bob Langdon officiating. Memorial donations to PRISMS, Prisms Inc., 21800 Town Center Plaza, Suite #266A -633, Sterling VA. 20164 USA, for the research of Smith-Magenis Syndrome, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
