Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: March 14th, 2015

Cradled in the loving arms of the Lord, Daisy Cecilia (Curtis) Steele-MacPherson passed peacefully on March 14, 2015 at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in the picturesque community of Ingonish in 1921 to Rupert and Elizabeth (MacIntosh) Curtis.
Daisy dedicated her life to the care of her family and others. Always working hard and forging new roads Daisy started her early career selling Avon and Fuller Brush, then tried her hand at running canteens including two wonder filled summers in Mira at Spains Pavillion, the famous dance hall that featured live bands and a drive up canteen. Mom always reached out to care for others filling our home with extended family or friends as well as animals and lost children, anyone who needed a home. To this day we still have one of these residents Pat Penny — who has been with us for over 23 years and is considered part of the family.
She was so successful she opened two other homes for those she felt needed one. Mom took in seniors and able bodied mentally challenged persons. These people became our family and I am sure they are greeting Mom with a big thank you in heaven. To the very end Mom worried and cared about her children. Now she is free from this worry and free to live a new life with her family and friends in heaven without tears or pain.
She will be remembered for her amazing spirit and heart which lives on in her children, Betty (Mike) MacAdam, Ontario; Deanna (Peter MacKenzie) Sampson, Sydney; Donna (Paul) McPherson, New Brunswick; Pat (Alex) MacKinnon, Sydney; Donnie (Sue) Steele, Sydney; Bernie (Patricia) Steele, Sydney; Mary (Kenneth) Crocket, Halifax. She is also survived by her 13 beloved grandchildren and 18 wonderful great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her first husband, Donald Steele, second husband, Ken MacPherson, brothers, Bernard, Lauckie, Tom, Willie, Maurice and Leo, sisters, Ethel Ross, Hanna Whalen and Bernice MacNeil.
She served us all and is now a great servant in the Lord’s Kingdom. Rest peacefully Mom until we meet again. Thank you to all the staff of Cove Guest Home, Ceilidh Unit, who lovingly served our mother. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
