Alton "Zane" Kaizer - 79, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a hard fought battle with cancer. Born on May 21, 1935 in Halls Harbour, he was the son of the late Seaman and Marjorie (Patterson) Kaizer. In his younger years he was employed with F.W. Robinson, Cornwallis Supplies and Maurice’s Ready Mix. Zane started his own backhoe and dozer company in 1975, from which he retired in 1990. In 1986 Zane developed Kaizer Lane Subdivision, of which he was very proud. He was a Jack of all trades and could do anything he put his mind to. He was the happiest when he worked or puttered, as he liked to stay at something all day. Zane loved the water and keeping with his wishes his ashes will be scattered on the Bay of Fundy at a later date. Zane was an honorary member of the Coldbrook Lions Club for 29 years. He will be forever loved and missed by family and friends. Zane is survived by his wife of 25 years, Roseanne (Fredericks) (Arenburg) Kaizer; step-daughters, Sherri (Cris) MacNeil, Halifax; Heather (Rick) Rood, Cambridge; step-son, Greg (Samantha) Arenburg, ON; 10 step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; sister, Audrey Kinsman, Kentville; mother-in-law, Helen Fredericks, Waterville; sisters-in-law, Barb Fretwell, Windsor; Bernice Furgerson, ON; brother-in-law, John (Terry) Fredericks, Waterville; several nieces and nephews; special nephew, Dale Sellars. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Adele Keizer and Glennie Benjamin; brother, Clair Kaizer. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A combined Lions and funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Michael Shreve officiating. A reception followed in the Coldbrook Lions Hall. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Margaret Salsman Memorial Cancer Care Fund or the Valley Search and Rescue.
