It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Dr. Mary Elizabeth Lynk announce her peaceful passing at home on Sunday, March 15, 2015.
Mary E. was the only child of the late Norman and Ada (MacLeod) Lynk.
She was born in Glace Bay and graduated from Morrison High. She excelled in Girl Guides, obtaining her All Round Cord and continued to support Girl Guides her whole life. She graduated from Kings University and from Dalhousie Medical School in 1972. She practised family medicine in New Waterford for over 35 years. She served on the Cape Breton Palliative Care Society, Cowl Bowl Board of Directors, the New Waterford Hospital Charitable Foundation, the New Waterford Rotary Club and was a vital member of the Re-Entry program.
Mary E. loved to travel and enjoyed many happy outings with 'The Golden Girls', Betty, Lorraine, Jane, Lois, Bobbi and Marie, her pals from ER in New Waterford. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain, especially at her cottage in Round Island.
She will be sadly missed by her many MacLeod and Lynk cousins as well as the Jala, Milburn and Billard families.

She was a devoted family physician and delivered hundreds of babies and supported many families throughout the years. She often went underground at Lingan Mine for industrial accidents. She also served as medical examiner for the industrial area for many years.
Mary E. was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Ada Lynk and her stepmother, Elizabeth Lynk.
She is survived by many MacLeod and Lynk cousins.
