Colin Howard

COLIN DAVID HOWARD “HOWIE”
With profound sense of loss and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Colin. Colin was born August 13, 1949 in London, England. He immigrated to Canada with his mother at the age of four to join his father who was working at the mine near Noranda, Quebec. This may have inspired him to become a geologist – he loved rocks! Colin graduated from the Haileybury School of Mines in Haileybury, ON and headed west. He began his career at Kalium Chemicals Potash Mine at Belle Plaine on June 1, 1974. He was a man who loved his work and generously shared his knowledge with others. The friendships he formed at work became invaluable and enriched his life. Colin was a past member of the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club, the Civic Centre Board, Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Assoc., and the White Track Ski Hill Board. The friends made through these years endure to this day. Colin passed away at home in the early morning hours of March 14, 2015 at the age of 65 after a fierce fight with cancer. He carried out his final days with dignity, compassion for others, a smile on his face, and joy in his heart. He maintained his quick wit, thirst for knowledge and love of laughter to the end. We will miss him every day. Colin was predeceased by his mother Ina Laurie, his father Richard, mother-in-law Agnes Grainger, brother-in-law Keith Grainger, sister-in-law Vi Grainger, brother-in-law Vince Pascarella, Aunt Betty, Aunt Gerry, and his grandparents that formed his proud Scottish/English ancestry. We, the family, remain grateful for his giving spirit and joy of life. Colin is survived by his beloved wife Muriel, daughter Chere, son David, and grandchildren Brittnee, Reese, and Gabriel; mother Estelle Howard, sister Candee Pascarella, niece Tara Allen, brother-in-law Ian Grainger and family, Uncle Jim Moffat and family in Scotland, Uncle Vic and Aunt Elaine Howard and family in Maryland; and many valued friends. We mourn the passing of this joyful, kind, loyal, hard-working family man and friend. We will miss his music. Until we meet again – We Love You!
