Lenora "Sissy" Eileen Mentis

Mentis, Lenora “Sissy” Eileen – 79, Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday, March 15th at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro she was the daughter of the late John “Bob” and Viola (Parsons) Mentis. Raised in Truro Lenora enjoyed her early years of basketball and Ringette. She also was a devoted member of the Zion United Baptist Church. Upon moving to Sudbury, ON, where she raised her family, she also was a home care provider. Later she moved to Toronto where she worked in the cafeteria of the Provincial Legislature Buildings. Moving back to Truro she worked for a time at the Stone House as a custodial worker. Her hobbies included bowling, reading, the game “TOC” and playing various card games. She is deeply loved and will forever be sadly missed by family and friends. Lenora is survived by her children, Wendy, Holly, Kathy, Donna and George Borden and Terik Carter; brothers, Raymond, John and Burton; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Robert “Cook”. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 3 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Pastor Brian Johnston officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery at a later date. Following the service there will be a celebration of her life gathering at her home at 210 West Prince St., Truro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of N.S.
