Cecilia (Mac Innis) McDonald

Born In: Glace Bay

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: March 17th, 2015

On March 17, 2015, Cecilia McDonald peacefully left our family to join her husband Tony in their heavenly home.
In 1920 Cecilia entered the world of the Mac Innis family in Glace Bay.
She was born to the late Bridget (Boozan) and John McInnis, the youngest of 10 children.
From a young age she was dedicated to her family and when she married Anthony 'Tony', that dedication flourished.
Cecilia and Tony were the proud parents of John Anthony and Clara Cecilia. During her lifetime Cecilia demonstrated that family always comes first. She loved and cared for them; her family and her faith were the center of her life.
Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were also blessed to experience that unconditional love and support of ‘Grandmother’ as she became lovingly known.
Cecilia is survived by her children John (Helen) Bras d’Or, and Clara Bickerton (George Sparling). Also surviving are her grandchildren, Denise (Robert Steele), Anthony, Bonnie (Larry) Maxwell, Alison, Colleen and Elise MacDonald and Lesley (Paul (Ecky)) Corbett, Darryl and Tara Dawn Bickerton (Bob McEwen), also 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Grandmother was predeceased by her husband Tony, after 60 years of marriage and her grandson, Shaun Bickerton. She was also predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Michael, Tom, Elmore, Willy P, Johnnie Allan, Gordon (Lefty), Irene, May and Clara.
During the last year, grandmother was in care and the family wishes to thank everyone who comforted her especially the staff of Four West, Northside General and the ladies who sat with her. Thank you to Greg Murphy and Fr. Peter McLeod for their prayers and visits. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Doug Kolsmith whose kindness and caring helped us through this difficult time.
Grandmother will always be in our hearts. She will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
