It is with sadness that we, the family of Jean (McIntyre) MacFarlane, announce her passing on March 20, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Jean was the daughter of the late Michael 'Mic' McIntyre and Mary Kate (Bigley) McIntyre. She was the manager of Glace Bay Travel for many years.
Jean is survived and will be missed by her sister, Fran Breski; nephew, Paul (Sandra) Breski; nieces, Jean Breski, Anne Breski (Kenny); brother-in-law, Butch MacFarlane. 'big aunt Jean' as they lovingly called her, will be especially missed by her grandnieces, Kate and Laura MacMullin and grandnephews, Paul Gregory and Michael Breski. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in the McIntyre and Graham families.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bruce MacFarlane; brothers, Leo and Dece McIntyre and a sister, Marg Graham.
Jean enjoyed her travel, cherished her family and loved her home.
Visitation for Jean will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Cape Breton Branch of the SPCA.
