Shirley Hicks

HICKS, SHIRLEY JEAN
(1941-2015)
Shirley J. Hicks, wife of the late Richard Douglas Hicks, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by her side. Born in Mill Cove, NB, February 16, 1941, she is the daughter of the late Cecil and Kathleen (Clark) Farris.
Shirley’s family meant everything to her. She absolutely adored her children and grandchildren and she loved to go back home and visit with her brothers and sisters. After her husband Richard’s passing in 2002, Shirley was quite lonely, but love for family kept her going. Shirley had a great sense of humour, tormenting and teasing everyone and she especially enjoyed “getting one over” on her grandson Anthony. She really liked to read and to do puzzles with a particular talent for soduku. This strong and capable lady will be forever loved and missed by her family.
Shirley is survived by her sons Alvin (Marlene), Leduc, AB, Gary Hicks and Russell Hicks (Norma) and her only daughter Jean Hicks all of Saint John; brothers Daniel Farris, Chipman, NB and Eugene Farris (Cora Lee) BC; sisters Juanita Dykeman, Elizabeth Hall (Glen) and Almetia Farris all of Chipman, NB; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several extended family members, too numerous to list.
Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her infant daughter June Marie and her sisters Ethel, Bernice and Patsy in infancy.
Arrangements under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) where visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will take place Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm followed immediately by a time of fellowship and refreshment. Private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Remembrances in memory of Shirley would be appreciated to the IWK Grace Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
