Lucia Baiani

BAIANI, LUCIA
Lucia Baiani, née Marini, a long-time resident of Moncton died peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Residence NDSC in Dieppe, after a short illness. She had an unwavering faith in God and was ready to be reunited in heaven with her late husband, Emidio (1995) and son, Italo (2013).
Born in Elce, Italy in 1920, she was the daughter of the late Beniamino Marini and Clementina Ampieri. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953 and made Moncton her home until 2011 when she moved to the Residence in Dieppe. She was very happy in her new home and was always grateful and thankful for all the love and care she received by the nurses and staff.
A consummate homemaker with a strong will, kind heart and friendly disposition, Lucia soon overcame many challenges and barriers she encountered in her early years. She always had a friendly smile for everyone she met and was affectionately known in her neighbourhood as "Nanno", an endearing word meaning nana.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Sr. Gina Baiani, NDSC, Maria DiSimone (Franco) and daughter-in-law, Janet Baiani; her grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally, Gina Fitzpatrick (Joseph), Piero Baiani (Catherine), Tina DiSimone and Laura Lane (Kevin); eight great-grandchildren whom she adored, Megan, Sarah, Emilie and Brandon Fitzpatrick, Antonio Baiani, Hunter, Parker and Spencer Lane. Also mourning her will be her brother, Filippo of Moncton and her siblings from Italy, Domenica, Inessa, Nicola and Giuliana and many nieces and nephews both from Canada and Italy.
She was predeceased by siblings Giustina, Angelo, Paolo and Rosina.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and Wednesday, from 1pm until departure (1:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton, Wednesday March 25 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in Lucia's memory. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
