It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother Betty Beatrice MacKinnon formerly of Chisholm St., New Glasgow and Valley View Villa, Riverton on March 21, 2015.
Born March 30, 1922, Betty was 9 days short of her 93rd birthday, she was brought-up in Telford and was the daughter of the late Ida Mae (Logan) and Thomas Alexander Woolley.
She will be very sadly missed by her daughters, Nancy (Lloyd) Forbes, Telford; Beverley (Dick) Webster, Little Harbour; Jessie MacDonald (the late Joseph), New Glasgow; her grandchildren, Troy (Jennifer) Ladd, Whitehorse; Amber (Gump) Guthro, New Glasgow; her three great-grandchildren; her three great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jean Patterson (the late John), Woodfield; many nieces and nephews, as well as her special daughter, Arletta MacKeough who spent so much time with her on so many occasions when Mom needed someone around.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Lester MacKinnon; son, John “Buddy” MacKinnon; brothers, Jack, Alex, and Billy Woolley; sisters, Louise Clark, Mae Kilner and Hazel Hatfield.
Betty will be fondly remembered for all the love and care she gave so freely to everyone; her art, her love of music, her step dancing, her quilting, her smile, her love of fishing, her love of gardening, her african violets, her love of mayflowers, her purse….
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 2-3 & 7-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald funeral home, New Glasgow. A Memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in May 2015. Time and date will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Betty’s memory to the Valley View Villa.
The whole family would like to say thank you to the VON for the care they provided while Mom was still at home, to the exceptional staff at Valley View Villa for making the last months of Mom’s life so meaningful and enjoyable and to the nurses and doctors at the Aberdeen Hospital emergency department. www.pkmacdonald.ca
