Gertha Agnes Oxley

OXLEY, Gertha Agnes – 74, Harmony, passed away peacefully, with her son, James, and her dear friends, Boyd, Maxine and Wanalda at her side, on Sunday morning, March 22, 2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born November 20, 1940, in Weldford Parish, Kent County, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late John and Bessie (Lawson) Mundle. Gertha was a member of Brunswick Street United Church. She worked for 20 years at Intertape Polymer Group and cleaned privately for many people. Gertha enjoyed gardening, always put others before herself and will be remembered for always having a joke to share. She enjoyed spending time with “The Breakfast Club”, a group of close friends who gather for meals and special occasions. Gertha is survived by her son, James Oxley (Darcie Hatt), Truro, and their daughter, Clara Ellen Oxley; siblings, Ronald (Alma) Mundle, Mundleville, New Brunswick; George (Arlene) Mundle, Moncton, New Brunswick; Arnold (Sheila) Mundle, Mundleville, New Brunswick; Margaret MacLeod, Petiticodiac, New Brunswick; Dorothy Buckley, Saint John, New Brunswick; Beulah (Bonner) Morton, Richibucto, New Brunswick; brother-in-law, Bill Hartling, Kitchener, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey Hilbert Oxley (2014); sister, Eleanor Hartling (2014); brothers-in-law, Rollie Buckley, Herb MacLeod. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Brunswick Street United Church, 250 Brunswick Street, Truro, Reverend John Parsons and Reverend Boyd Vincent officiating. Reception will follow in the dining hall. Spring interment will be held in Harmony Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Gertha’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed.
