MAIR, ARLINGTON
Arlington “Arlie” Stewart Mair, of Riverview, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the age of 92. Arlington was born on January 10, 1923 in Campbellton and grew up in Tide Head, New Brunswick.
He graduated from the Nova Scotia Agriculture College and then from MacDonald College (McGill University). On October 18, 1952, he married Helen Isabel Dickie. Arlington worked for Co-op Atlantic his entire career, retiring in January 1988 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Central United Church and sang in the choir for over 50 years. Arlington was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He enjoyed reading, gardening, golf, playing bridge, painting and was a long-time supporter of the CBC.
Arlington is survived ‎by his wife of 62 years Helen, daughter Jane Percy (Kevin), son David Mair, daughter Nora Lacey (Greg Potten) and his three grandchildren Dr. Jennifer Percy (Dan Clayden), Edward Percy (Alana Green) and Luke Lacey as well as sister Kathleen Bursey of Tide Head, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Arlington was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ellis Mair, brother Robert Mair and sister Alda Currie.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Emergency Department and unit 4200 at the Moncton Hospital as well as Dr. Carole Deveau, Dr. Pamela Vardy and Dr. Mylene Despres for their kindness and compassion. Thanks also to the staff of Monarch Hall.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 26 at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, NB at 2:00 pm. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
